The Hargrove Foundation Supports the Delta Bike Project

(Mobile, Ala.) – Through a contribution by the Hargrove Foundation, the Delta Bike Project (DBP) will be better able to focus on improving and expanding their Time is Money Program, Build a Bike Program, and bike maintenance classes. The DBP is a bicycle community dedicated to promoting and improving access to bicycle transportation and quality of life in Mobile, Alabama.

The DBP believes people from all walks of life deserve the benefits derived from cycling. Since bicycles are the only affordable transportation for some people in the Mobile area, the Time is Money Program provides bicycles for those in need. To date, the DBP has given 300 bicycles to people in the community.

Students in underserved areas of the city are invited to the DBP’s Build a Bike Program, where students learn what it takes to build bicycles, and are given the confidence and knowledge they need to keep them in good, working condition. In addition, the DBP offers bike maintenance classes for adults. Due to rising popularity, the DBP hopes to expand the course selection to two standing basic courses, and two courses for women only.
